I Am A Voter

…as we move closer to November 8th, our right to vote is becoming a vital concern…Adam Grant writing in this Sunday’s Times claimed that voter turn-out in California and New Jersey increased when the familiar advertising slogans demanding our participation such as “…you should vote…” and “…vote your conscience…” were replaced by the simple description of “…I am a voter…”…proving again that the pen is mightier than the sword, this simple change in grammar produced incredible results boosting participation by more than 15%…typically Americans average between 48% and 54% of our population in presidential voter turn-out and admittedly, words alone cannot change our voter turn-out records…other countries consistently rank well above our participation level…we are 34th on the world’s participation list…our obstacles can always be rationalized into plausible excuses…work pressures, family duties, physical limitations, the list goes on…Mr Grant himself admits to have voted only once in a presidential election since he became eligible to do so…i feel the importance of participation cannot be overstated so, in this company’s efforts to impress on our families the responsibility we share in becoming voters, Noëlle will open at 9:15 on Election Day Tuesday November 8th…and I personally am available to baby sit, drive, or otherwise assist anyone in need of help in becoming a “voter”…
