…i know…this was out the window today and “night moves” classic line runs in my head “…autumn closing in…”…this is the lull between summer warmth and winter pale - this season - with its back-to-school energy - is our time to adjust…change the wardrobe…adopt different colors…experience style beyond the usual…visit us…we excel in changes…we will repair summer’s damage to your hair…and renew your skin…and dress you as befitting your beautiful self…

10.13.21

I recently met with Gina Mugavero,Chef Lisa Clarke, & Melissa LoParco, the team working with Dr Katie Takayasu to promote her book, Plants First: A Physician’s Guide to Wellness Through a Plant-Forward Die. My fascination with food’s effect on health has only increased with age. From 10-day fasts to excessive protein consumption, I have experimented with many concepts and plant-based diets have lately taken on a special importance to me. Within the vast amount of information readily available to us, I find a need for someone to separate the wheat from the shaft. And I recommend Dr Katie’s approach and insight.

Save the date for an informal evening with Dr Katie on Thursday November 11th and meet the good doctor herself, sample food and drinks prepared from her book and join the ever-increasing movement towards a healthy, flavorful future for yourselves and your families.

Be on the lookout for additional information about Dr Katie and the November 11th event here on the Noëlle website and on social media.

Area Physician Shares Expertise on Wellness and Plant-Forward Nutrition

STAMFORD, CT/ – Have you heard that a plant-forward lifestyle is better for you, but don’t know why or how to make plants a bigger part of your diet?

In her new book, Plants First: A Physician’s Guide to Wellness Through a Plant-Forward Diet, Dr. Katie Takayasu, an integrative medicine physician with Stamford Health, draws on her clinical expertise and personal experience to share how plant-forward nutrition can be helpful to living longer, preventing disease and managing chronic health conditions. The book also provides tips on introducing  plant-rich food into our lives in practical, easy ways.

Plants First provides readers with their own five-day detox program along with delicious and easy-to-make recipes – from main dishes to snacks and desserts.

You’ll learn more about:

  • Plant superfoods to maximize your supermarket spend

  • Listening to your body: physical, emotional and spiritual needs

  • Getting enough protein and fiber

  • Supplements to consider

  • Tips for making your kitchen adventures fun but sustainable

Plants First is available in bookstores (Victory Belt Publishing) and on Amazon starting on November 9.

In addition to her busy practice, Dr. Katie is an active speaker on holistic health, bridging the gap between traditional Western medicine and the evidence-based complementary health tools of nutrition, acupuncture, meditation, botanicals and lifestyle optimization. She helps patients recognize their own innate wisdom for finding balance in the mind, body and spirit. Dr. Katie also developed 5- and 10-day detox programs to help reset the body, giving patients tools to build a healthier lifestyle with nutritional food (with deliveries made to your home!), along with guidance on daily movement, proper rest and spiritual connection. 10.03.21 Upcoming Event at Harmony Yoga 2nd Floor 1100 High Ridge Road

Restorative Yoga & Sound Bath is happening at Harmony Yoga Studio!

FRIDAY October 8th 6-8pm

with Carol Shwidock and Gary Posner

Come lay down. It IS Metal Element in Chinese Medicine (Fall Season) and a time to surrender and let go with healing restorative poses and deep listening. As we transition into Autumn we witness the leaves shining bright and then returning to the Earth. Carol will lead us in a few Restorative Poses while Gary accompanies us with Healing Sounds. Sound Baths have been shown to reduce stress, enable deep relaxation, enhance creativity, possibly uplift the spirit and help with insomnia. Sound Meditations slow down your brainwaves and guide you into a deep meditative state or altered state of consciousness. Students will be totally relaxed as they are “immersed” in the sounds, vibrations and harmonics of the instruments. Gongs, Himalayan bowls, crystal singing bowls, tuning forks and shamanic percussion instruments are played in a clinically tested, therapeutic sequence to enhance the healing benefits of both restorative poses and sound healing.

Come join us. Space limited

PLEASE Bring OWN PROPS/MAT

(2 blankets, 2 bed pillows) and invite your body to land on the ground and relax more

The equinox approaches as the day’s light disappears by seven thirty now and every dusk seems to come at us quicker. And with the change in season comes that back-to-school energy that is undeniable and indelibly written into our histories and our personal DNA.

So it is here at Noelle - and this September we are dedicating our donation fund to support an organization dedicated to erasing Childhood Hunger. Fillingintheblanks.org is a local charity with that stated goal and their particular way of going about that task is to fill backpacks with food and distribute them through various outlets. It’s time to address this issue - head on. It’s time to solve this issue and we wholly support their efforts and want to spread the word on their successes.

A portion of all retail sales at Noelle for the month of September will be donated to Filling in the Blanks and we would hope the entire Noelle community will join together to build and further this extremely worthy cause.

09.24.21

Welcome to autumn 2021. Odd weather has accompanied the coming - and going - of the yearly equal day equal night occurrence. Shorter daylight looms ahead.

http://fillingintheblanks.org/ will continue to benefit from a portion of our retail sales as we feel their programs are so extremely needed in these unsettling times. Thank you for the many who have supported them so far and we encourage everyone to become more aware of their mission and actively participate in their - as well as other - community efforts aimed at our collective betterment.

09.26.21

Tomorrow, Monday, the front desk will move its location. Don’t think you’ve entered an alternate universe…it only moved a few feet to your right as you enter. The new location centers the boutique and actually returns the desk to its original 1995 spot. History repeats itself.

Approaching the end of this month I appeal once more for your help in raising awareness of childhood hungry…in our community?...how can this possibly be???...and how can we help eradicate it for the good of all of us???...We can do things together on so many different yet complementary ways. Fill in the blanks is one of those ways. A portion of our retail sales until the end of the month will be donated to their cause…please see their website for further inspiration fillintheblanks.org

On other matters…current reading is…bob wiseman/music lessons…wonderful writing as this Canadian musician and performer comments on learning in a general sense while conjuring musical insights that are truly revealing and inspirational. When he mentioned hearing Joan Armatrading singing “…love and affection…” I felt I was there and sharing a feeling with a fellow admirer…and of course I went running to the music. The book is thoroughly enjoyable and written in short bites…perfect.

Later…

Welcome to 1100 High Ridge
